A spectacular safari with air travel throughout combining dedicated personal service in an off-the-beaten-track way, and featuring four game areas, including little visited Meru and Laikipia Plains. Tortilis Camp is without doubt the most impressive camp in Amboseli National Park and offers 17 luxurious tents on a private ranch of 18000 hectares (46,000 acres) on Laikipia
Plains, an area rich in wildlife and home to over 2000 elephants, as
well as herds of plains game and the accompanying predators. Because
it is not situated in a National Park, game activities may include
walks, night drives and camel treks. Meru National Park was the home of Elsa, the lioness made famous by Joy Adamson, and is an arid park, yet with many rivers and oases. It is also well-stocked with wildlife, and now blessed with the superb Elsa's Kopje, comprising 8 stone and thatched cottages with breathtaking 360 degree views over the plains; this is a very special place. There is a strong emphasis on ecological preservation on this safari, and also authenticity, with lighting being provided by hurricane lamps rather than electricity. But little is compromised on comfort, and the Italian based food is acknowledged as superb. Meals may include bush breakfasts and lunches, and sundowner drinks. Soft drinks, beer and wine are included (except at Meru).
