JOHANNESBURG -DAY TOURS      2009

Johannesburg City tour     Daily 2pm-5pm                        This half day tour takes you to the Top of Africa at the Carlton Centre (entrance fee not included) passing Hillbrow en route.  Then you visit the historical buildings of downtown, the Stock Exchange and De Beers.  Proceed to the arty suburb of Melville and return via the Emmarentia Gardens and Rosebank.       Rands 375  per person

Soweto tour     Daily       8.30-12.30pm                           This tour with a difference takes you through the streets of Soweto and its adjoining townships.  See the bustling neighborhood life.  Most who venture there come back enlightened, and fascinated by the glimpse of this side of South Africa.  Rands 450 pp

Gold Reef City   Tue-Sun   1-5pm                                               A half day tour to Gold Reef City, a replica of old-time Johannesburg.  Travel back in time as you take a ride on a penny-farthing or stroll through the olden days houses.  Tour also includes an underground visit, gold pour demonstration and a miners' dancing performance.  Please note:  Children under the age of 5 are not allowed underground.      Rands 650 per person
 

Lesedi - An African Experience   Daily  3.30-10pm               Evening excursion to Lesedi nestled in the pristine bushveld where families from the Zulu, Xhosa and Pedi live in their traditional homesteads.  Guests to Lesedi arrive at the colourful "Kwa Khayal'hle" Ndebele Village.  Traditional tribespeople summon guests into the Ndebele meeting room. Once seated, the visitor is then exposed to a multi-lingual orientation depicting the history of South Africa and the background to Lesedi.   Dinner is included.      Rands 920  per person
 

Rise to Freedom Tour   Tue-Sun  8.30-4.30pm                     Visit Soweto's informal settlements, affluent suburbs, Mandela House, Hector Peterson Memorial, celebrity houses, a "shebeen" (tavern) for refreshments (own expense).  Then embark on a discovery of the racial segregation experienced by millions of South Africans a mere decade ago.  Soweto up-rising, ANC in exile, apartheid, solitary confinement. Origins Centre Tour   Daily  8.30 or 1300 (4 hour tour)    *NEW*                                       The Origins Centre at Wits University in Johannesburg is one of South Africa's newest and most fascinating attractions. View the impressive Voortekker Monument and stop at the Paul Kruger House Museum. You will also have the opportunity to experience the spectacular view of the city that the Union Buildings gives. Sun City and Pilanesberg Game Reserve  Daily                 12 hours - excludes lunch.                                                         Absorb the beauty of nature with the morning spent game viewing in the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve - a Big Five reserve.
